Welcome back to our post series celebrating the incredible achievements of the 2023 Writing Competition place getters!
Sebastian Roos, who wrote The Collision of Universes and placed 1st in the Year 7-8 Category, created two worlds in outer space. One world loved nature and the other technology. They were on course to collide. He made these imaginary worlds believable, while also making a philosophical point about resolving differences in a way that seemed natural. A stark contrast to war. A beautiful story.
Sebastian received a tablet sponsored by Noel Leeming! Well done on your incredible achievement, Sebastian, especially as you had to compete against a thousand other entries, this category being the most submitted for!
Category Judge: Tessa Duder, OBE, Companion of New Zealand Merit (CNZM), Prime Minister’s Awards for Literary Achievement in Fiction
